Hello Family and Friends! This is our first week adventuring out, just the three of us. M has been at work during the day so we are on our own. I have to figure out where we are going to explore and how we get there (M, of course is a big help on directions! Me, on the other hand could probably get lost getting out of my own subdivision on a bad day.) I want to make sure the first week is especially fun for the girls so I look in the 250 Fun Things to do in Singapore book for ideas. I come across a Toy Museum that looks fun. The ride there is easy on the MRT and the walk isn't too far away. As we are walking down the street I notice that there are small, informal shops set up all along the street so I am searching for the museum. I look up and see the Toy Museum sign and it says "Toy Museum, Cafe, Restaurant, Wine Bar" . . . Wine Bar? . . . At a museum with toys? From across the street, I can see a fully stocked bar. The girls look at me and are saying, "this is it? It doesn't look like a museum?" So I take a deep breath and respond "Sure it is the museum, see the sign, "Toy Museum". Of course I ignore all the other things on the sign. I mean we just made our first adventure out without M and I wasn't going to admit defeat. We walk through the bar to the back where a women is standing and we pay our admission to the museum. It is a dark and narrow store and the museum has 5 levels and we head to level 5 to start. Deep breath.
I wish I could have taken pictures in this museum because the collection of nostalgic toys was unbelievable. Due to the collection's value, we weren't aloud to take pictures in there. The lights were dim to help preserve the collection also. The girls were running from one exhibit to the next . . . from match box cars to Mickey Mouse, Barbie, Tom & Jerry, Yogi Bear, lunch box collections and much more. Definitely worth the trip. Just goes to show me, never know what we may find!
