During the taxi drive, both Keylime and I are nauseous and I am worried we will both lose our dinners. M has already told me how bad the taxis are in China with no air conditioning, the overwhelming smell of smoke, and crazy driving (makes you want to join us in China, doesn't it?) Keylime and I struggle to handle the clean, air conditioned, nice driving cab rides in Singapore. Our upcoming Beijing trip should be interesting. I have a stock of blue air sickness bags in my purse now. Just in case. But tonight we arrive at the zoo and have used none of our blue bags, so success!
The Night Safari is dimly lit with fire torches. We arrive right as the Fire Show was starting so we decide to watch that before we head to the train and trails to see the animals. We have a great view of the show right in front so the girls can easily see. The fire men come out and are blowing fire so big and close that you can feel the heat. Keylime has the bejeebus (this word, if it is even a word, cannot be spell checked) scared out of her.
Next thing we know, the tribe men come over our way and grab M to come with them. All of these men who are eating and blowing fire are minimally dressed so they tell M he has to take off his shirt. It's official, he is part of their tribe now. The girls were standing there with their mouths dropped open as their dad is up on the stage with all the fire men. He is now in the show!
Here he is . . .
Oh, wait . . . that isn't M . . . here he is . . .
So did he eat the fire?
. . . I am not telling . . .
you can ask him when we get home, and his tongue has cooled off.
Once my hunka, hunka burnin love recovered, we toured the safari. It was amazing to see these animals at night. They were active and very, very close to us. Keylime, my animal loving (not) gal, wouldn't even sit on the outside of the train seat since it was so close to the animals. She liked the zebras the best (of course), M liked the Asian elephants, Tie Dye liked it all and my favorite was the spotted (laughing) hyena. Although when we were walking the very dimly lit trails, across a suspension bridge, with the hyenas making lots of crazy noise, we weren't laughing so much. Yikes! We are like "that's all folks, time for us to leave the zoo!"
Hi, ho, hi, ho . . . off to China we go. We will be flying all day tomorrow so I will be a little later on my post until we arrive. Stay tuned . . .

Of all the people in the crowd, M gets picked?! I'd have paid good money to see that!
