So, we spend the day at the beach. Mom K, and her daughters K and B join us and everyone had a great time. Good waves, and the girls loved playing in the sand. It is official however, that we do have Joey Tribiani hole-digging genes (another old "Friends" episode) in our family. The girls kept digging holes on the beach. Other kids were coming up and helping for awhile so it was a community effort. (I text M at one point and he said that maybe Keylime was trying to dig her way home to get something to eat. He might be right!)
So we stay at the beach all day and start heading back home around 5:30. I am not sure what Mom K and I were thinking given that we have lots of walking, a tram ride and take 3 different subway cars to get home and now it is rush hour. The kids are tired and this has turned Keylime and K into slap happy silly beans. We start the journey and things are going well. Our train pulls into the transfer stop that we need to switch lines from purple to red. We had a stroller with us so we need to take the lifts (a.k.a. elevators) so we are looking for the signs for them. So here is what we did . . . go up one floor, walk, go down one floor, walk, go up one floor, walk, go down one floor, "wait. . . wasn't this the floor we were just on?" (and repeat!) People are everywhere, walking fast, wanting to get home from work, and we look (because we did) like we just came from the beach. Much of the time we can see the signs for the red line but just can't get there. In the meantime, Keylime and K have to use the toilet (that is what they call it here.) So we can see the signs for the toilet but it is on the other side of the turnstile and we cannot get over there. With some help from transit security, they make some special arrangements and we get Keylime and K taken care of. Finally we end up on the red line headed home. LOL on that ride. The nice people we encountered had a lot of laughs too
We met Sarah, who is 11. She helped with hole digging for awhile!
