Passport photos

We use our passports as identification for various things here.  Each time I get the passports out of the safe and look at the pictures I can't help but think that we all look like a group of hoodlums.  I mean seriously, how hard is it Walgreens to try to make a cute 9 (well now she is 10!) and 7-year old look as cute as they are?  However, somehow with the poor lighting and lack of a color backdrip, we look like we have seen a ghost.   Really, what am I talking about, my picture isn't going to win America's Top Model, either.  When we walk up to the customs station at the airport, we each smile real big (you know looking friendly), stand up nice and straight, like, hey, isn't this a face you would like to have in your country, at least for awhile?  Even though our scary passport pictures, really say something different.
