Did you know . . .

Did you know that there are more kinds of rice than I could ever imagine?  There is one whole row in the grocery store with bags and bags of rice (no boxed Uncle Ben's here).  Imagine when we go to the local markets how many more kinds there will be.  I am going to test out my culinary skills tonight and prepare dinner using my rice cooker (looks like a crock pot but just for rice.)  For those of you that don't know, I am no master in the kitchen so this should be interesting.  We will either eat dinner very late or not at all.  Who knows!

Yesterday, we took the bus to another side of the island and went bike riding along the coast.  East Coast Park has a long biking/walking path that goes right along the ocean.  We stopped at Sandcastle Park where there are huge piles of sand to build.  There was a great breeze.  The local kids are still in school so Saturday afternoons and Sundays are crazy busy with families doing their weekend fun.   They had tents set up and families and friends were picnicking everywhere.   The bike path was like a major highway.  It was a little funny to get through some of the points that had intersections and crosswalks.  Imagine a superhighway for bikes!  (note to self:  don't leave the apartment without the camera/phone.  Will take pics of the East Coast Park when we go back.)  It was really pretty.

Tie Dye will be updating her page sometime today.  Keylime is apparently on sabbatical from blogging right now.  I am working on getting her to post!  The weather has been cooler than I expected, been in the upper 80's so far.  Definitely warm in the tropical sun.  We haven't had any rain.

While we were waiting in a line, a mom and daughter were ahead of us.  The mom stepped out of line just for a minute leaving her daughter to hold the place.  Mom was within eyesight and was coming right back.  The line started to move and I didn't want the girl and her mom to lose their place in line so helpful Midwest me ask the girl if she wants to move up in the line.  Well, obviously the scary American woman (me) frightened the girl (she was probably about 5) and she spontaneously combust into tears.  The mom was very nice and knew everything was fine.  I felt terrible.  Nothing like terrorizing small children.  Sorry to the sweet little girl.
